In Moroni 10, the final chapter of the Book of Mormon, Moroni concludes his record with an invitation to future readers. He urges them to read the Book of Mormon and then pray to God with a sincere heart, real intent, and faith in Christ to know the truth of it. Moroni promises that God will reveal its truth through the Holy Ghost to those who sincerely seek. This invitation is known as Moroni’s Promise, one of the most frequently cited passages for those seeking a personal witness of the Book of Mormon.
Moroni also describes the gifts of the Spirit, which God bestows upon believers. These gifts, such as wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, prophecy, and speaking in tongues, are given to strengthen the faith of individuals and build the church. Moroni urges people not to deny these gifts, for they are signs of God’s power.
He goes on to counsel readers to come unto Christ, be perfected in Him, and deny themselves of all ungodliness. Moroni teaches that through the grace of Christ, individuals can be made perfect if they repent and strive to follow Him. Moroni expresses his love for future generations, prays for all people to accept the gospel, and bids farewell, committing the record to God.
This final chapter is both an invitation to seek a personal confirmation of the Book of Mormon’s truth and a call to come unto Christ, embrace His teachings, and rely on His grace for salvation. It encapsulates Moroni’s hope that readers will come to know and follow Christ.
