Whether you're a parent or teacher, this post has some great ideas to help you teach March 11-17's Come, Follow Me Lessons centered around 2 Nephi 26-30. Check out the lists below!

 

God prepared the Book of Mormon for our day.


  1. Book of Mormon Storytime:

  • Gather toddlers for a special Book of Mormon storytime. Use age-appropriate pictures and tell simple stories from the Book of Mormon. Encourage interactive participation and ask questions to engage them.

  1. Crafting Miniature Gold Plates:

  • Provide toddlers with materials to create their own miniature "gold plates" using cardboard or paper. Talk about the importance of recording and preserving sacred things, just like the Book of Mormon.

  1. Scripture Marking:

  • Use large printed images or simplified symbols to represent key verses from 2 Nephi 29–30. Let toddlers "mark" these scriptures using colorful markers or stickers, reinforcing the idea that the Book of Mormon is precious and worth studying.

  1. Marvelous Work Mural:

  • Set up a mural-making activity where toddlers contribute to a large display representing the marvelous work of God in the world through the Book of Mormon. Use stickers, drawings, and other art supplies.

  1. Creation of a Mini-Book:

  • Assist toddlers in making their own small, simple books. Encourage them to draw pictures or place stickers that represent the stories and teachings from the Book of Mormon.

  • Create a large world map and mark the places mentioned in the Book of Mormon. Use pictures or symbols to represent events and stories from those locations, helping toddlers understand the global impact of the Book of Mormon.

  1. Dress-Up Play:

  • Set up a dress-up station with costumes related to Book of Mormon characters. Allow toddlers to engage in imaginative play while discussing the characters and their roles in the "marvelous work."

  1. Covenant Cookies:

  • Bake simple cookies in the shape of plates or symbols from the Book of Mormon. While decorating or eating the cookies, talk about the covenantal aspect of the Book of Mormon and the promises it contains.

  1. Prayer Circle:

  • Gather toddlers in a circle for a short prayer time. Express gratitude for the Book of Mormon and its teachings. Encourage them to fold their arms and bow their heads, fostering a sense of reverence.


 


 

Jesus Christ invites us all to come unto Him.


  1. Jesus Loves Me Craft:

  • Provide toddlers with materials to create simple crafts like paper hearts or handprints. Talk about how Jesus loves each of them individually, and they can hold up their creations to express love in return.

  1. Song and Dance:

  • Introduce a simple and repetitive song with the message of coming unto Jesus, such as a toddler-friendly version of "Come unto Jesus." Encourage them to dance or move along to the music.

  1. Interactive Storytime:

  • Choose a children's book that shares the message of Jesus' love and invitation to come unto Him. Use props or puppets to make the story interactive, and discuss the feelings of love and comfort.

  1. Friendship Bracelet Activity:

  • Provide materials for toddlers to create friendship bracelets. As they work on their bracelets, discuss the idea of Jesus inviting everyone to be His friend and how they can share love with others.

  1. Jesus' Animal Friends:

  • Set up a play area with stuffed animals or toy animals. Discuss how Jesus loves all creatures, just like the animals in the play area. Encourage toddlers to care for and show love to the toy animals.

  1. Nature Exploration:

  • Take toddlers on a nature walk and point out the beauty of God's creations. Talk about how Jesus made everything and how they can feel close to Him by appreciating the world around them.

  1. Kindness Chain:

  • Create a paper chain with each link representing a kind deed or action. Discuss how being kind to others is a way of coming unto Jesus and following His teachings.

  1. Interactive Prayer:

  • Teach toddlers a simple prayer with hand motions or actions. Emphasize the idea of talking to Jesus and expressing love and gratitude in their own way.

  1. Puzzle Pieces of Love:

  • Use large puzzle pieces and have toddlers decorate them with messages of love. Connect the pieces together to form a big heart, symbolizing the unity and love found in coming unto Jesus.

  1. Picture Collage:

  • Provide magazines and images of diverse people. Create a collage representing the idea that Jesus invites everyone to come unto Him, regardless of differences. Talk about inclusivity and love.


 


 

Satan seeks to deceive.


  1. Sorting Game:

  • Prepare cards with simple images or words representing true doctrines and false doctrines. Engage toddlers in a sorting game where they match the correct pairs, emphasizing the importance of knowing the truth.

  1. Storytime with Puppets:

  • Use puppets to create a simple, interactive story that illustrates Satan's lies and the importance of recognizing them. Reinforce the concept that the scriptures teach us the truth.

  1. True and False Craft:

  • Provide materials for toddlers to create a collage or artwork that depicts true doctrines from the scriptures. Discuss the importance of holding onto the truth and rejecting false ideas.

  1. Verse Coloring:

  • Print out verses from 2 Nephi 28:6, 8, 21–23, 29, along with corresponding verses that reject Satan's lies. Allow toddlers to color these verses and discuss the differences between truth and deception.

  1. Matching Game:

  • Create a simple matching game with cards that have pictures or symbols representing true doctrines and their corresponding false doctrines. Play the game together, reinforcing the idea that we should choose the truth.

  1. Role-Playing:

  • Engage toddlers in role-playing scenarios where they act out situations involving recognizing and rejecting lies. Use simple dialogue and visuals to emphasize the importance of staying true to the teachings of the scriptures.

  1. True or False Songs:

  • Create a fun and catchy song with lyrics that distinguish between true and false doctrines. Sing it together and incorporate movements or actions to make it engaging for toddlers.

  1. Building a Truth Wall:

  • Use building blocks or cardboard bricks to construct a "truth wall." Attach pictures or words representing true doctrines and discuss how we can build our lives on a foundation of truth.

  1. Puzzle Pairs:

  • Create puzzle pieces with matching true and false doctrines. Allow toddlers to assemble the puzzle pairs, reinforcing the idea that the scriptures provide guidance in distinguishing between right and wrong.

  1. Scripture Storybook:

  • Compile a simple storybook with illustrations of true doctrines from the scriptures. Read the stories to toddlers and discuss how the scriptures help us know the truth and avoid deception.

  1. Bible Story Time:

  • Use age-appropriate picture books or Bible storybooks to read simple stories to toddlers. Discuss the stories and emphasize the idea that these are special words from God.

  1. Feelings Collage:

  • Provide magazines and images that represent different emotions. Encourage toddlers to create a collage depicting how they feel when they hear or learn about God's words.

  1. Listening Ears Craft:

  • Have toddlers create "listening ears" by decorating paper ears. Use this craft to talk about the importance of listening to God's words and being open to receiving more.

  1. Nature Scavenger Hunt:

  • Take toddlers on a nature walk and encourage them to find natural items that represent God's creations. Use this opportunity to discuss how God communicates through the beauty of the world.

  1. Prayerful Coloring:

  • Provide coloring pages with simple pictures related to prayer and scripture study. As toddlers color, talk about how we can show God that we want to receive more of His word through prayer.

  1. Interactive Song:

  • Create a simple song with hand movements or actions that express the desire to hear and receive God's word. Sing together and make it a joyful experience.

  1. Picture Book Puzzles:

  • Choose a simple scripture story and create puzzles with images from the story. As toddlers solve the puzzles, discuss how learning about God's word is like putting the pieces together.

  1. Story Stones:

  • Paint or draw simple symbols representing stories or concepts from the scriptures on stones. Encourage toddlers to pick a stone and discuss the story or idea it represents.

  1. Faithful Feet:

  • Create footprints on large paper and let toddlers decorate them. Discuss the idea that our "faithful feet" take us to places where we can learn more about God's word.

  1. Family Picture Book:

  • Help toddlers create a simple picture book featuring their family engaged in activities like praying, reading scriptures, and going to church. Reinforce the idea that God's word is a part of their family life.
