As you prepare to teach Doctrine and Covenants 93 in Sunday School this week, you’ll be guiding your class through powerful truths about the divine identity of Jesus Christ—and what that means for each of us. This section teaches that we are children of God, with the potential to grow “grace for grace” as we receive light, truth, and keep His commandments. It also offers inspired counsel on building our homes and lives in order, centered on the Savior. To help you lead a meaningful, Spirit-filled discussion, we’ve gathered engaging questions, simple object lesson ideas, and personal sharing prompts that invite participation and reflection. These tools are designed to support you in helping your class connect personally with the doctrine and apply it in practical, uplifting ways.

Like Jesus Christ, I can be glorified and receive God’s “fulness.”
Engaging Questions:
- What do you think it means to receive a “fulness” from God? How would you explain that in your own words?
- What does this section teach us about Jesus Christ’s progression? How does that give you hope for your own growth?
- How do you feel knowing that even Jesus Christ “received not of the fulness at first” (D&C 93:13)?
- What experiences have helped you grow “grace for grace” like the Savior did?
- What are some daily practices that help you feel closer to becoming more like Christ?
- How do trials or setbacks help us move toward receiving more of God’s light and truth?
- Why do you think Heavenly Father wants to share His glory with us? How does that change how you see yourself?
- What does it look like in real life to “continue from grace to grace” (D&C 93:20)? Can you think of someone who models that?
- Have you ever felt like you’ve had more light or truth added to your life? What led to that moment?
- If Jesus could grow gradually into His divine role, what does that teach us about patience with ourselves and others?
Object Lessons:
1. The Empty Cup Filling
Materials:
- A clear cup
- A pitcher of water
Lesson Overview:
Show the empty cup and pour in water slowly. Explain that just as the cup doesn’t fill all at once, we too receive light, knowledge, and spiritual strength little by little until we reach a fulness.
Discussion:
- What small things fill your spiritual “cup”?
- How can we be patient with the process of growing like Christ?
2. The Dimmer Light Switch
Materials:
- A lamp with a dimmer (or a flashlight with brightness settings)
Lesson Overview:
Start with dim light and gradually brighten it. Explain that just as light grows stronger, our lives can become filled with truth, glory, and God’s presence step by step.
Discussion:
- How does the Holy Ghost help us “brighten” over time?
- Why do you think God gives growth gradually instead of instantly?
3. The Seed to Plant Analogy
Materials:
- A seed (bean or sunflower)
- A picture of the grown plant or tree
Lesson Overview:
Hold up the seed and the picture. They are the same being—just at different stages. Likewise, we are children of God with divine potential to grow into His likeness.
Discussion:
- What spiritual “nourishment” helps your seed of faith grow?
- How does this help us see others’ potential too?
4. The Ladder or Stair Steps
Materials:
- A small ladder or picture of stair steps
Lesson Overview:
Explain that you don’t leap to the top in one jump—you take it step by step. Similarly, Christ advanced from “grace to grace,” and so do we as we become more like Him.
Discussion:
- What was one recent “step” you’ve taken to follow Christ?
- Why is it important to notice progress instead of perfection?
5. The Puzzle Missing Pieces
Materials:
- A nearly finished puzzle missing a few pieces
Lesson Overview:
Show how the puzzle looks incomplete until the last pieces are added. Our lives may feel unfinished now, but in the end, God’s plan completes us with His fulness.
Discussion:
- What are some “pieces” of God’s fulness we can gain in this life?
- How does Jesus Christ help us complete the picture?
6. The Dirty Mirror and Clean Mirror
Materials:
- A mirror smudged with lotion or dust
- A cloth to clean it
Lesson Overview:
At first, the reflection is unclear. As you clean it, the image shines more brightly. Like this, as we repent and follow Christ, our lives reflect His glory more fully until one day we can share in His fulness.
Discussion:
- What daily actions help keep your “mirror” clean?
- How does this object lesson connect to becoming like Jesus Christ?
Personal Sharing Prompts:
- Think of a time when you felt yourself growing spiritually, line upon line. What did that process look like for you?
- Think of a time when you caught a glimpse of who God is helping you become. What sparked that insight?
- Think of a time when you felt light and truth enter your life in a powerful way. How did it change you?
- Think of a time when you made a small, consistent choice that brought you closer to God’s presence. What motivated you?
- Think of a time when you felt God’s confidence in your divine potential. How did that help you move forward?
- Think of a time when you struggled to see progress in yourself—but later realized you had grown. What helped you recognize that growth?
- Think of a time when someone helped you understand your worth as a child of God. What did they say or do?
- Think of a time when you felt the Savior walking with you as you tried to become more like Him. What were you learning during that season?
- Think of a time when you felt God’s “fulness” enter your home, your mind, or your heart in a quiet moment. What brought it?
- Think of a time when you felt inspired to teach or lift someone because you were beginning to see yourself the way God sees you. How did it change the way you served?
The glory of God is light and truth.
Engaging Questions:
- What do you think it means that “light” and “truth” are part of God’s glory?
- Can you think of a time when spiritual light helped you see something more clearly in your life?
- What kinds of things bring more spiritual light into your life—and what things tend to dim it?
- How do you personally seek truth? Where do you turn when you have questions?
- Why do you think truth and light are so connected in the gospel of Jesus Christ?
- What are some ways we can reflect God’s light to others, especially when the world feels dark?
- Have you ever had a moment where you felt surrounded by spiritual darkness? How did you find your way back to the light?
- What’s a truth you’ve learned recently that brought you closer to God?
- How does learning truth—whether spiritual or secular—glorify God?
- If someone asked you how to find more light in their life, what would you tell them?
Object Lessons:
1. Dark Room & Flashlight
Materials:
- A flashlight (or phone light)
- Dim or dark room
Lesson Overview:
Turn off the lights. Ask: “How easy is it to move without light?” Then shine the flashlight and show how even a little light changes everything. Explain: God’s glory is His truth—it makes our path clear and safe.
Discussion Questions:
- How has gospel truth brought clarity to your life?
- Why do we sometimes take spiritual “light” for granted?
2. Dirty vs. Clean Window
Materials:
- A clear plastic sheet or glass pane
- One side smeared (lotion, marker, or dust), the other clean
Lesson Overview:
Hold both up to light. The dirty one blocks and distorts it, while the clean one lets it through. Truth and purity allow God’s light to shine in us; distractions and sin cloud it.
Discussion Questions:
- What smudges sometimes cloud our hearts?
- How does repentance help us let more light in?
3. Prism & Rainbow
Materials:
- A prism (or a glass of water with sunlight)
Lesson Overview:
Shine light through the prism to reveal a rainbow. God’s light is one and whole, but it expands into many truths—knowledge, love, revelation—that bless us. His glory is not just brightness, but understanding.
Discussion Questions:
- What truths from God have added “color” to your life?
- How does light connect to knowledge and joy?
4. Candle Sharing Flame
Materials:
- Several candles or tea lights
Lesson Overview:
Light one candle, then use it to light others. The first flame loses nothing while giving light. God’s truth is the same: sharing it increases glory—it never diminishes.
Discussion Questions:
- How do you feel when you share gospel truth?
- How does your own light grow when you share it?
5. The Compass Analogy
Materials:
- A compass (or a phone compass app)
Lesson Overview:
Show how a compass points north consistently. God’s truth is like this: it always points us toward Him. His glory gives us direction, even when life feels uncertain.
Discussion Questions:
- What truths guide your daily decisions?
- How does truth keep us from getting spiritually “lost”?
6. Puzzle with Missing Piece
Materials:
- A puzzle missing one key piece
Lesson Overview:
Show how the puzzle is incomplete without the last piece. God’s glory is “light and truth”—without truth, our spiritual picture is incomplete. With Him, it all comes together.
Discussion Questions:
- What truths has the gospel added that complete your perspective?
- How does God’s light bring wholeness to life?
Personal Sharing Prompts:
- Think of a time when truth replaced confusion in your life. What was the truth you learned, and how did it bring clarity?
- Think of a time when spiritual light helped you through a dark moment. How did that light come to you?
- Think of a time when learning a gospel principle brought you peace or power. What truth made the difference?
- Think of a time when you recognized truth from the Spirit more than from the world. What did that moment teach you?
- Think of a time when you felt “enlightened” while studying the scriptures or listening to a talk. How did that moment change you?
- Think of a time when you chose to walk away from something that felt dark or untrue. How did God’s light help you do it?
- Think of a time when you watched someone gain light in their countenance. What was happening in their life?
- Think of a time when you saw the connection between truth and freedom. How did embracing truth change how you felt or lived?
- Think of a time when you prayed for guidance and felt the Lord increase your understanding. What truth did He help you see?
- Think of a time when you saw light and truth grow gradually in your life. How did it build over time?
“Set in order your own house.”
Engaging Questions:
- What do you think it means to “set your house in order”? How would that look in your life right now?
- Why do you think the Lord connects spiritual growth with how we manage our homes and families?
- Have you ever felt overwhelmed trying to balance your responsibilities? How do you think the Lord can help?
- What’s one thing in your daily life that you feel prompted to “put in order”?
- How does inviting the Spirit into your home change the atmosphere there?
- What’s one small habit or routine that helps you feel more spiritually organized?
- What do you notice about your relationship with God when your home life feels out of order—or in order?
- If someone looked at your life, what would they say you prioritize most? Is it what you want to be prioritizing?
- Why do you think the Lord lovingly corrects—even His prophets—when things are out of alignment at home?
- What does it look like to lead your home with both spiritual strength and humility, no matter your role or age?
Object Lessons:
1. The Messy vs. Organized Backpack
Materials:
- A backpack filled with random, messy items
- Another backpack neatly packed with only what’s needed
Lesson Overview:
Invite someone to find a specific item in both backpacks. It’s much harder in the messy one. Compare this to life: a house (or heart) in disorder creates stress, while order allows us to focus on what matters most.
Discussion Questions:
- What kinds of “spiritual clutter” can weigh us down?
- How can gospel habits help us keep our lives in order?
2. The Domino Effect
Materials:
- A set of dominoes
Lesson Overview:
Line up dominoes in a pattern. If one is out of place, the chain won’t work. This shows how when one part of our life is neglected (prayer, family, covenants), it affects the rest. Order creates harmony.
Discussion Questions:
- What’s one “domino” in your life that affects the rest?
- How can we reset and realign when things get out of place?
3. The Crooked Picture Frame
Materials:
- A frame hanging crooked (or hold one up tilted)
- A tool to straighten it
Lesson Overview:
Ask if anyone is bothered by the crooked picture. Then straighten it and point out how much better it feels. Small corrections in our homes and lives restore peace and alignment with God.
Discussion Questions:
- What’s a “crooked” area in life that needs straightening?
- Why does God ask us to notice and fix things early?
4. The Garden Analogy
Materials:
- A plant that’s thriving
- A plant that’s wilted or overgrown with weeds (or a photo)
Lesson Overview:
A garden only flourishes when it’s tended regularly. Likewise, our homes and hearts thrive when we pull weeds (sin, distractions) and nourish them (scriptures, kindness, prayer).
Discussion Questions:
- What “weeds” do we sometimes let stay in our homes?
- How can daily gospel practices keep our house in order?
5. The Level and the Foundation
Materials:
- A carpenter’s level (or show a picture of one)
- Blocks or books stacked unevenly
Lesson Overview:
When the foundation isn’t level, the whole structure tilts. Christ is the foundation of our homes. Setting our houses in order means making sure He is the center of it all.
Discussion Questions:
- How can we “check our level” spiritually?
- What difference does it make when Christ is the foundation?
6. The Mirror Check
Materials:
- A mirror
Lesson Overview:
Hold up the mirror and ask: “Before leaving home, what do you do?” We check ourselves. Likewise, the Lord asks us to look inward and bring our lives into gospel alignment.
Discussion Questions:
- What spiritual “mirror checks” can we do daily?
- How do small adjustments help us prepare to see God?
Personal Sharing Prompts:
- Think of a time when you realized something in your home or personal life needed to be realigned with gospel priorities. What helped you recognize it?
- Think of a time when making a small change in your home created more peace or spiritual focus. What was that change?
- Think of a time when your efforts to strengthen your family felt guided by the Spirit. How did that influence your decisions?
- Think of a time when you felt overwhelmed by family responsibilities—but found strength through the Lord’s counsel. What did you learn?
- Think of a time when you chose to pause or let go of something good to focus on something better at home. How did that affect your family?
- Think of a time when you felt prompted to prioritize your family’s spiritual growth. What steps did you take?
- Think of a time when you set a spiritual or practical goal for your household. How did it bless your family?
- Think of a time when you were humbled and reminded that setting things in order starts with yourself. What helped you move forward?
- Think of a time when your home felt like a place of refuge or holiness. What helped create that environment?
- Think of a time when teaching or leading your family deepened your testimony. What did you experience in that moment?
